Nina's Pathways tours focus on the four elements we believe are essential for an unforgettable holiday:

History, Nature, Culture, Indulgence.

History

With a documented history that stretches back 3000 years, the Teardrop Island is brimming with historical wonders including eight UNESCO World Heritage sites.

On a Nina's Pathways tour you will experience many of these extraordinary locations, and learn of ancient kingdoms, marvels of engineering and the legacies of more recent European settlement.

Sri Lanka is blessed with great natural diversity in its environments – from beaches to mountains – and in its wildlife.

One of our favourite activities is a Jeep safari in Yala National Park, where we spot leopards, elephants, crocodiles and abundant bird life. Another is a visit to the Pinnawale Elephant Orphanage.

Nature

Culture

A diverse and multicultural country, Sri Lanka is home to many religions, ethnic groups and languages.

On a Nina’s Pathways trip, Culture encompasses the artistic, community and social aspects of the Island. You will experience temples and sacred sites, see traditional dance and music, take a cooking class in a real Sri Lankan home, and of course immerse yourself in the sights and smells of life in the markets and villages.

Indulgence

Ayurveda is the traditional Hindu system of physical and mental health therapies. We will enjoy a range of massage and skin cleansing treatments, often employing divine Ayerdevic oils, and yoga is available for those who have an interest in the practice.

Sri-Lanka has incredible cuisine, and we will be eating in unforgettable locations — roof terrace restaurants of Galle, cliff-side cafes of the south coast, and impeccable hotel restaurants. Expect plenty of char-grilled seafood, myriad curries, aromatic spices and gorgeous fresh fruit. Gin and tonics are, of course, the drink of choice.

We will also have plenty of time for shopping. After years of research, Nina has located the best, most ethical shops where you will pick up the country’s retail specialities: textiles, gems, silk and spices.
