DAY 1 
COLOMBO AIRPORT - NEGOMBO

On your arrival into Colombo Airport, you will be welcomed by Nina or her representative and transferred to your hotel in nearby Negombo. Relax before an evening dinner with your fellow travellers.

DAY 2
NEGOMBO

After a sumptuous breakfast at the hotel, we will take a private boat tour of fascinating Negombo Canal, constructed by the Dutch as a supply route from the town to churches and fishing villages. The Dutch Canal, flows across Negombo main street and was the main supply route for the Dutch Administration. The 100km long canal running through the town is still being used and is an attraction for those who want to see the country from a different perspective.

DAY 3 
WilpaTTU national park

Today we venture to Wilpattu National Park for a wildlife safari. Designated a national park in 1938, this 132-hectare park and wetland is home to an array of gorgeous creatures including leopards, elephants, sambhur, buffalo, sloth bear, mongoose, crocodiles and peacocks, oh my!

After breakfast we leave for Jaffna by road OR train (subject to availability). Transfer to the Jetwing Hotel for dinner & overnight stay.

Hammenheil Fort Jaffna

JAFFNA

With a fascinating history,  commencing with construction by the Portuguese in the mid 17th Century,

and the Dutch capturing it in March 1658, the Fort provides real interest for History buffs.

Our day will also include visits to Nallur Kandaswamy Temple and the Jaffna Library

Today we visit Polonnaruwa Ancient City and proceed to Aliya Resort for dinner and overnight.

Sigyria

DAY 10
POLONNARUWA - SIGIRIYA

Today we explore the amazing rock fortress, perhaps the most iconic landmark in Sri Lanka.

Rising 200 meters, the site was chosen by King Kasyapa as his new capital during his reign 477-495AD.

He built an impressive palace at the top , decorated walls with beautiful frescoes the remains of which are still to be seen and has left us the challenge of climbing the 1200 steps to the top!

Then the enjoyment of a village visit via bullock cart through lush farmland and paddy fields with a traditonal Sri Lankan lunch.

Temple of the Tooth

DAY 11
SIGIRIYA-KANDY

Kandy was the last royal kingdom and today we will visit the Temple of the Tooth. The Temple of the Tooth harks bak to the 14th Century. We also will enjoy an exciting and colourful cultural dance show in the evening.

Train to Nuwara Eliya

KANDY-NUWARA ELIYA

Subject to availability (local authorities confirmation 1-2 days prior) we will tke the British built railway line to Nuwara Eliya. This colonial train is considered to be one of the worlds most amazing railway journeys as it zig zags around the mountains an through tea plantations.

A relaxing day with an optional strenous walk to the Horton Plains National Park.

A day travelling from the mountains to the sea. We will arrive and stay at Radisson Blu at Galle.

GallE CITY

Today we enjoy one of our favorite days, a tour of the Dutch Fort which is a UNESCO site. Harking back to the 1500’s when the Portugese arrived, we learn a facinating history which included Dutch and British heritage.

GALLE-
COLOMBO

This morning we drive about two hours north to Colombo. Along the way will will visit Lunuganga Estate, the country home of the renowned Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa, built in 1947, and have a stroll through the magnificent gardens. Evening at Sri Lanka icon and one of Nina's favourite experiences, the Galle Face Hotel. Once in Colombo there is an option for an afternoon city tour.

DAY 17
COLOMBO

Sadly, our tour finishes today with transfers to Katunayake International Airport.

Once again you and your fantastic little tour company managed to get the balance just right in so many ways for your eclectic group of guests. From the cultural and historic to the natural and everyday sights, sounds, smells and activities of this amazing country we were left enchanted and amazed on a daily basis (even for me on the second time around).
